A couple of drinks is always a safe bet. Bonus points if there is tapas style food available to pick at. Big heavy meals is a no no. I also like an energetic and lively environment.

For me I think a great first date idea is a cocktail making class. You’re doing an activity and you’re learning something new so you can be a little silly, a little playful and it's really hard for the conversation to dry up! Plus if all goes well, it's easy to transition into a dinner and if it does turn out to be a bad date you can bail as soon as the class is over and you still got a good cocktail out of it!
